Church attendance

Congregational Worship is specially permitted even during the current national lockdown.  You may be aware that some churches have decided to remain closed, this is particularly true of other denominations but also include some Anglican parishes; in the Church of England not opening at least once per week for a service is subject to Canon Law and the Bishop’s discretion.  After discussion with neighbouring parishes, the Church Wardens believe  that we can offer the sacraments to those who wish to receive them with minimum risk of spreading infection.  We will keep the situation under review to maintain a clean and safe environment, offering the sacraments to those you wish to receive them.  However, please remember to register your attendance and use hand sanitiser when entering; wear a mask and remain two metres apart from others at all times.

The Weekly Message from the Blackburn Diocese

This week we are publishing the message from the Diocese as Bishop Philip reflects on the psalms as they speak to us in the middle of the pandemic.  He talks about how the psalms can bring comfort but Bishop Philip starts by saying he thinks the psalmist should have been a Lancastrian because his words are so direct and clear.  If you want to hear more of what he had to say click on the video below to watch it all.

Funeral Services are still permitted to a maximum of 30 inside church and social distanced outside gatherings are allowed.

Worship at School is still taking place as we make sure the Christian message of hope is alive and heard in our Church of England Primary School.  As social distancing and class 'bubbles' are in place, we have had to adapt our worship to meet the current circumstances.  Fr Andrew produces as worship video for school each week which is used for class worship and discussion.  This week we had a really enjoyable time thinking of things we might find in church beginning with the letter 'F'.

Thank you to all the children who contacted me by email with suggestions for items I've missed.  Watch out for next week's school worship as you might get a mention.  And for the adults can you think on anything else beginning with 'F' - there's a clue in a suggestion to light up the church which only costs £10 per night.  Here's the video:

Foundation Governors we have two further vacancies at our CE Primary School.  Contact Fr Andrew if you are interested and more information is available at the Blackburn Board of Education website (click here to direct you to their website) or specifically at the Governors' landing page on the Board of Education website.  More information about our Church of England Primary School can be found on their website by clicking on the school logo to the right.
